Just got this press release from the train folks. Sounds like a pretty good deal …

This special offer is valid June 12 – August 8, 2010 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with the exception of July 4 and is for the 9:45 am train. The offer is good for Standard-Class tickets only and is not valid for special events or with the use of a season pass. Bus fares are not included and are an additional fee. Who cycles? Weecycle!

A reminder from the organizers of this Saturday’s Weecycle:

WeeCycle Durango is having its Fall/Winter Consignment Sale. Forty plus local families are selling a wide variety of gently used clothes, toys, books, nursery items, baby gear and more. Sale is this Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The church is located at 2917 Aspen Dr. off Florida Road (near Riverview Elementary School).

There will be a diaper drive to benefit the La Plata County Family Center coalition. So bring some diapers, cash or check and your shopping list and take advantage of this opportunity.

Please pass the word along to anyone you know who would like to shop this amazing sale. For more information, go to www.weecycledurango.com.

Big book sale

It’s spring and Durango is waking up. A lot is going on Saturday — the Kids Fair at the mall, Skyfest at Schneider Park — but one thing worth special note is the book sale being held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Durango Public Library. According to the Friends of the Library, thousands of books and audio-visual materials from three packed storage sheds will be available for sale. The group is calling it their biggest book sale ever. Sounds like something not to be missed to me. They are also looking for volunteers. Call Sheryl Ayers at 385-4557.

All you can wear

Want to freshen up your or your children’s wardrobe while contributing to a good cause? From 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Volunteers of America Thrift Store is having an everything-you-can-wear-out-of-the-store-for-$5 sale. The store, at 639 E. Second Ave., is clearing out merchandise ahead of the move to its new location at 1111 Camino del Rio, where it will open May 2. Already the store has marked its offerings down by 40 percent.
